Evolution of Competition Martial Arts

Martial Arts have evolved tremendously over the years. This is due in part to many of the mixed martial arts type competitions that have sprung up in the past two decades. K-1 had a tremendous influence on how competition martial artists trained, and with the advent of the UFC in the late nineties, a whole new hybrid martial arts style was born. MMA, or mixed martial arts is a combination usually of Muay Thai, or Kickboxing, Western Boxing, grappling, ju jitsu, brazilian ju jitsu, and Greco Roman Wrestling.
Though not an officially recognized martial art MMA has grown tremendously both in exposure and popularity. And now especially in the US you can hardly find a gym that does not offer some type of MMA training program.

With the evolution of competition martial arts (more money) there come new training techniques, modern technology, and medical science.
This however shouldn't supersede some of the ancient training techniques that have evolved over thousands of years of martial arts practice.

This website will attempt to bring light to some of the ancient but still relevant training techniques, that I believe are as relevant today as they were a thousand years ago.
